Now in it’s fourth year, this weekend-long event on 20–21 March 2027 will celebrate the many and diverse ways that residents of Orange (and surrounding towns) are growing food.

The Edible Garden Trail movement has been growing for years around Australia. Each Trail is locally run and independent, celebrating and showcasing their own community, for the benefit of the community.

The Orange Edible Garden Trail is a not-for-profit event. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly toward supporting school and community food-growing initiatives through garden grants and educational events.

Grants have enabled recipients to enhance their garden by funding resources such as gardening tools, seeds, soil, compost, building materials, and kitchen equipment.

What are the benefits of an edible garden?

A productive garden offers a wide range of benefits, reflecting the diversity of the people who cultivate them. Edible gardens enhance food security, support community resilience, lower the cost of high-quality produce, provide the health advantages of low-tox food production, and bring joy and satisfaction to those who tend them.

Who organises the event?

The Orange Edible Garden Trail is volunteer-run and not-for-profit, and is proud to reinvest any profits into local community garden projects. As a visitor you can see the ways people in our local community, and our very specific climate, are successfully growing food to eat and share.

Should I open my garden as part of the trail?

Feeling on the fence about opening? Gardeners understand that a garden is never finished, our visitors are interested in your processes, successes, failures and learnings! Hear some words of wisdom from previous Sydney participants (our favourite lines are Don’t wait until it’s perfect, because you’ll never open and You’ll meet the nicest people on these things!)

When is the event?

This years edible garden trail will be held on 20–21 March 2027 from 10am–4pm. Gardens are open for different hours between 10am and 4pm each day. We will be announcing gardens shortly.

Do I need to insurance to be a Garden Host?

Garden Hosts must have Public Liability Insurance, which is typically included in home and contents insurance. Additionally, the Orange Edible Garden Trail holds its own Public Liability Insurance and can provide a copy of the certificate of currency upon request.

Can I get a refund if it rains?

If weather conditions prevent us from proceeding with the event, we will reschedule the event for another weekend. If you are unable to attend at the revised event date, we will transfer your booking to our 2028 Garden Trail.
